Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actor and performer whose performance variety earned her acclaim in a variety of styles from period dramas to thriller and action adventure. Johansson is the daughter and wife of an architect as well as a producer was raised as a child in New York City. Hunter Her twin and Johansson were all the youngest of four kids. By the age of seven, she was making auditions for commercials on television. She joined the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after, and later attended the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to continue her training. The Off-Broadway show Sophistry she starred alongside Ethan Hawke at age 8 as well as in North, directed by Rob Reiner in 1994 she began her film debut. Johansson also appeared in Just Cause, but she gained recognition with Manny & Lo, a film about siblings left behind by their parents who fled. The film, The Horse Whisperer, Johansson played a teenage victim of a horrific accident. Her performance in Ghost World, 2001 as the rebellious teenager Rebecca received her more attention. She discovered her passion for acting in her early years. Thanks to the encouragement from her parents, Smith was offered her first acting gig when she was just six. Smith was in a television commercial for Dannon yogurt. Similar to many young actresses she decided to build her talent in the theatre. When she performed her stage debut in Wildflower she worked on different projects across USA. She was studying at The Stonestreet Studios Conservatory part of the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts'.
